Russia's largest crowdfunding platforms: Boomstarter vs

As it develops, the Internet is becoming a tool for more and more tasks. Let us say this: if earlier it was possible to work or have fun in the network, then today with the help of the same social resources one can organize some kind of movement, develop an idea or create a real public “boom”, whatever it is.

One of the best examples of how the Internet can become a powerful platform for the social organization of people is crowdfunding. This is a relatively new movement that originated in the West just a few years ago. At first it was, of course, just an idea, which gradually grew into a whole industry, the volume of which, according to the results of 2014, is estimated at 5.1 billion dollars worldwide. This money is funded by a huge number of interesting projects, start-ups, charity events and more.

Crowdfunding in Russia, of course, accounts for a relatively small fraction of these funds. However, even in our country, platforms are being created that allow centralized collection of money and channeling it to particular needs. That this movement represents itself, in what its pluses and how it is possible to participate - read in this article.

What it is?

Let's start with the definition of the term "crowdfunding". This, as you have probably understood, is a word derived from the English language, formed by the merging of the other two - the crowd (in translation - “crowd”) and funding (“investment of money”). Thus, by itself, this word means "a massive collection of funds from a large number of people."

The phenomenon by which we mean crowdfunding is not something that people have come up with in recent years. Mankind has long known that by bringing together efforts (means) together, it is possible to realize some more global, large-scale goal. In fact, it has been used for centuries.

And the thing is that quite recently there were crowdfunding platforms on the network, which greatly facilitated this task. Now, in order to announce the collection of money, simply post a message on the social network. And interested people "catch up". So, in principle, there is a fundraising on modern sites. Anyone can sacrifice anything. There are several models on which the crowdfunding platform works.

For example, it can be a fundraising as a charitable contribution (for example, for treating a child), as an investment with a subsequent reward (when a person who gives money receives a sample of products or a souvenir from a company in return). The third model for collecting money is investing - when people donate money, get a share in a startup instead.

Why do you need it?

The answer to the question of why we need a crowdfunding project is very simple. The fund-raising model of the main goal is, first of all, to accumulate a certain amount. The purpose of such a collection can be anything - to undergo a course of treatment, to assemble a new gadget, to hold an event, to release a music album, and so on. It all depends on who is collecting the money, and what this person (group of people) does.

In the future, funds are sent in the manner that was originally due: for example, money from depositors goes to a single account of a company conducting crowdfunding (there are several such in Russia), after which they are sent in a single payment to buy equipment, rent a studio and so on. In some cases, the money may be given to the initiators of their collection in order to carry out their initial task. True, in this case, of course, these finances are carefully monitored.

How and who can use it?

People who could apply for a fundraising are usually not selected. Crowdfunding resource owners (including Russian sites) accept all applications from anyone who would like to try to raise money and realize their goal. Then they are filtered and carefully selected in order to determine the most worthy project. Of course, each of the platforms has its own set of criteria by which they separate potentially interesting applications from unpromising ones. Next comes the fundraising process. Most often, the initiators of the collection are required to maximally disclose information about themselves and their ideas, to provide some evidence and facts - all that will convince everyone to make their own investment.

Work model

So, in order to make it a little clearer how things are arranged, we will show how the crowdfunding project works visually. As you may have guessed, it all starts with an idea. That it should come to the developer, who immediately lights it, thinks through its implementation and submits an application to the fundraising platform.

He does this in accordance with the conditions (rules) of filing. Most often you need to carefully describe what the essence and novelty of your idea is, to whom it can be useful, how you are going to realize it and, of course, where and how much money you will spend in order to carry out your idea. All these data you publish on the project, after which everyone can read them and make a contribution.

Next is your campaign. The site gives you a certain period during which you must collect a certain amount of money. For example, in 30 days your project should get 100 thousand dollars. In the event that you collect 109 thousand, the organizers give you this amount to realize your goals. If, for example, your project is gaining only 73 thousand dollars (doesn’t get up to a certain amount), it is considered to have failed. The money that people gave out is returned to them.

Successful examples in the world

In order to understand how Russian crowdfunding should work in the future, we can take a look at the best examples in the world - the most successful platforms operating in the USA, of course. Of course, this is KickStarter. The platform for all its existence has collected billions of dollars for the implementation of certain products. This is a huge number of startups, some of which have already reached unprecedented heights.

What is most remarkable about this site is the prospects for each individual participant. Imagine: any inventor, having created a fairly good campaign, is able to bring his idea into real life and present his product. Firstly, it stimulates people to engage in development, to invent something new and amazing, and secondly, projects such as KickStarter, allow you to create those things that ultimately change people's lives for the better. These include: innovative gadgets, software, content, and more - all that will benefit other people.

Projects in Russia

We have several crowdfunding sites. Among the most famous are: “From the World”, “Tuguesa”, Planeta.ru, Indiegogo, Kroogi and others. All of them work with projects of different directions, some relatively recently (about a year or two). Nevertheless, these sites even managed to show certain results (amounts of funds raised). For example, BoomStarter - 5 million rubles, Planeta.ru - 10 million, and so on. In the coming years, as experts predict, one should expect a market growth of 7–9 times annually. Thus, a real “boom” awaits us in the field of the phenomenon of crowdfunding. Russian sites, apparently, are already preparing for this.

How to collect the required amount?

This question concerns everyone collecting funds in this way. The main factors here are two - a description of the idea and its PR. In order to have a really strong, worthwhile project, it is necessary to carefully consider its purpose, form of implementation and technical features of the presentation. As for PR, it depends on him how many people will transfer their funds to you. Therefore, to attract local (and not only) media to advertise your campaign would not hurt you.

The opportunities that crowdfunding opens up (this is actually the way to life for your project) before each of us are simply endless. The main thing is to be aware of this and work on your idea, not despairing if nothing happens right away. Work - and you will succeed! The experience of a lot of other people proves it.

What is crowdfunding

Crowdfunding (crowdfunding) - a modern model of finding financing among individuals who are willing to support the project they like with money. Information is found on special sites - crowdfunding platforms. Unlike crowdsourcing, crowdfunding involves only fundraising, and not the search for volunteer assistants.

How does crowdfunding work

You want to print a book or magazine, hold a festival, or start production of a new product, for example, an inflatable sofa without a pump. How long will it take to seek funding - is unknown. Crowdfunding allows you to receive money in just a few months. For this, the authors of the projects describe in detail the idea, the costs of its implementation and set a goal - what amount they want to collect.

Whether you succeed depends on whether people will believe you and see the benefits in the project. Crowdfunding has helped and continues to help small businesses and startups. On the "collective" funds hold charity events, develop free programs, record music and make films.

Interactive course of the online university Netology "Crowdfunding: how to get funding for your project" will help determine the choice of the site, properly design the project and develop a reward system.

Who is who in crowdfunding

The main actors of crowdfunding are the founder (the author of the project) and the sponsor (becker, or donor). Sponsors finance the project through the system, the author receives funds for its implementation.

Before launching a fundraising campaign, the author calculates the costs in detail to determine the required amount. An important condition for crowdfunding is openness. People need to see how much money you need, how much you managed to collect and how much is still missing. The collected amount can be spent only on purpose - there will be a demand from the author.

Crowdfunding fundraising models

  • All or nothing: if the project did not collect the required amount by the appointed date, it does not receive anything
  • Leave everything: the author receives exactly the amount minus the commission that he managed to attract
  • Remuneration: the amount is collected first, then a team is created for the implementation of the project, and it receives money for the work
  • Deal with a free price: the author creates a product (for example, a book, audio recording), and the sponsors themselves decide how much to pay for it
  • Charity: free money transfer

World crowdfunding giants

The most famous crowdfunding platform is Kickstarter. She has been working since 2009, and during this time has attracted the attention of large American corporations, government agencies and venture capital funds. Here they choose the most suitable projects for investment. This platform works according to the “All or Nothing” model.

The main competitor of "Kickstarter" - Indiegogo. This platform allows you to use a more flexible financing model, unlike the first. No matter how much of the claimed amount was collected, all the money will go to the author. At the same time, he can choose the “All or Nothing” scheme instead of the flexible model. It will cost him less: the commission will be lower.

In 2015, Kickstarter attracted $ 71.5 million, and this is the world leader. And although in Russia there are no sites with a similar turnover, the two largest ones can be distinguished: “Bumstarter” (Boomstarter) and “Planet” (Planeta).

Crowd funding platform "Bumstarter"

It is called the Russian equivalent of "Kikstrater". The site opened in 2012, and at first offered to raise money only on the “All or Nothing” model - before the deadline. In 2016, the opportunity to collect money indefinitely - to the goal.

Each fundraising campaign is assigned a manager. He warns and corrects mistakes. The commission of the system is 10%, another 13% is income tax.

Main areas of projects

"Bumstarter" attracts creative, technical and other projects with a view. This site is raising money for the creation of films, music, video games, books, software and more. A total of 13 categories are provided: society, games, food, design, fashion, art, publications, music, technology, theater, video, photography and choreography.

“Bumstarter” does not support charity and everything connected with it. Authors collect money for clear goals - record a music album, publish a book, create a finished product or a work of art.

Successful fundraising cases

  • In 2013, Boomstarter managed to collect over 3 million rubles for the filming of the film “28 Panfilov’s”, although the authors requested 300,000 rubles
  • In November 2016, sponsors collected 1,429,220 rubles for the reissue of classic comic books about Ninja Turtles in the format of books (800,000 rubles were needed)
  • In May 2016, 998 sponsors collected 3,890,140 rubles for a pocket sofa, inflated without a pump. The authors of the project asked for “total” 1 million.

Since the opening of the site, 1,458 projects have managed to raise 309 million rubles. The greatest response is received by projects in the categories music, movies, books, computer games.

Features of "Bumstarter"

If we compare “Bumstarter” with another service - “Planet”, then it differs primarily in the fundraising model - “All or Nothing.” The author had to collect the amount by the exact date. If less is collected, the site returned money to the sponsors. Later, the platform softened, and the possibility of raising funds appeared indefinitely - until the desired goal was achieved. "Planet" gives money if the amount is collected at least half (50%).

Contribution of the author. If the author of the project found a part of the money outside the crowdfunding platform, then “Bumstarter” allows him to make the “author's contribution” with this amount. These funds are counted in a common piggy bank, but with a successful completion of the campaign are not paid. There is no such possibility on the “Planet”. You can pick up the amount if it reaches 50% of the target.

Personal manager. "Bumstarter" assigns to each project manager. You can keep in touch with him by phone. In “Planet”, communication is by email only, and this is slower.

Online learning. Bumstarter quickly learns to launch projects in an online school at any time. "Planet" conducts classes only 1 time in 3 months, and they must be attended in person.

Refund. "Bumstarter" charges a fee from sponsors when returning money from unsuccessful projects. "Planet" returns the funds in full.

Crowd funding platform "Planet"

"Planet" appeared in RuNet among the first crowdfunding platforms in 2012. Initially, the creators of the site had the idea to create a service that would help fight piracy in music - with the help of pre-order albums.

In 2011, the service opened in test mode. The first project was a fundraising for the recording of the studio album of the group “BI-2” (co-founder of the platform Max Litmus acts as a bass guitarist). The record was able to collect 1,250,000 rubles. This successful project was followed by others - also from the field of music. Later other categories were connected, the service expanded.

Gradually, Planet expanded to an online broadcast service and an online store and began to produce content on its own.

Money is collected on the model of "All or nothing", but there is a favorable condition - you need to collect at least 50%. The system will take a commission of 10% of the half set as the target amount, the remaining money will give a commission of 15%.

When the fundraising period expires and 50% of the desired amount is accumulated, the platform offers a choice of either collecting money (with different commissions) or extending the campaign for the same period as originally (180 days).

Features "Planet"

"Bumstarter" attracted an audience that is more interested in business ideas and technologies, and "Planet" - creativity and charity

On the “Planet” money is collected by famous people, they are loved and known, therefore they give money more willingly. In the shadow of the stars, ordinary authors may find it difficult to interest the audience. For Bumstarter, the reputation of the site for beginners was fixed, therefore, the chances of success without such strong competition from Celebrity are greater

Origin of the term

Like most modern words, it came from the English language. Crowdfunding (term) is a merger of two English words: crowd, which means a people or a crowd, and the second word, funding, which is translated as funding.

If you try to translate this term so that it is pleasant to the ear, then you can get something in the spirit of collective donation or joint sponsorship.

The most interesting projects

Groundfund is first of all something unusual, and sometimes even brilliant. There were a lot of projects, and a lot of them are being published now. And now we will try to give the most interesting crowdfunding examples.

For example, the Pebble smart watch, which, besides its main function of displaying time, can be an excellent addition to the smartphone, they also have a heart rate monitor, a step counter, GPS navigation and many other nice features.

In addition, the creators of the device promise that soon it will be possible to log in on social networks using only a fingerprint.

Brydge is another cool and necessary device. It turns the tablet into a full-fledged laptop. In fact, this is only a keyboard for iPad, but it is really convenient and ingenious.

The most expensive projects

Now we are talking about the most funded ideas. More precisely, about the largest collected amounts through various sites.

Let's go back to the Pebble watch. This unusual gadget, or rather the idea of creating it, collected more than 4 million dollars in a couple of hours. It was one of the records at the Kickstarter site.

Another expensive example would be a refrigerator called the COOLEST COOLER. Charges for its implementation amounted to more than 13 million dollars. And this is not just a major project, but according to some sources, the biggest deception. At first, the managers who collected the funds claimed that they did not meet the deadlines, then they had some technical problems, and even later these devices appeared in online stores, however, instead of the stated price of 185 dollars, its cost was 500 dollars, which greatly disappointed investors. By the way, more than 61 thousand people invested in this project, which in general is not small.

Pono Music Player. With a goal of $ 800,000, the project creator managed to raise more than $ 6 million. The device itself is a seemingly portable player, but aimed at high sound quality. In addition, it is planned to create a specialized composition store for this gadget.

Examples of western sites

There are many similar resources, especially in the age of free information and a great passion for copying it. There are not so many well-known and significant services. So, crowdfunding - the best sites:

  • Kickstarter is the best-known site to raise funds for the implementation of various ideas. By the way, it was there that the crowdfunding project was implemented - the Pebble watch. The resource itself is famous for its good reputation, a large number of successful and interesting projects. Besides the fact that if any of the ideas did not get the money, all those who made a donation get their money back, the platform itself takes 5% of the commission from the sums of successful projects.
  • Another well-known fundraising platform, called IndieGoGo, is equally well known. The service has a very large coverage across the countries of the world, as well as automated moderation of project rating, in contrast to Kickstarter, where users themselves determine popularity.
  • In addition, there are sites whose goal is not only to help various start-ups, but also charity. Boomerang service is one of them. The amounts of fees are generally not as large as the previous ones, but mostly they are social projects.

As for other services, there are really a lot of them, they just do not enjoy such popularity and trust as the above. Perhaps, many are simply trying to copy a successful business model for raising funds, because the platforms exist at the expense of commissions, and there are a lot of momentum there.

Crowdfunding: Russian sites

We also have our own similar services. Of course, the popularity of this kind of financing is not yet high, but they are developing. Next, we will try to list the most interesting and popular ones.

Service planeta.ru, which helps to raise funds, for example, to shoot your video, record a musical composition, and, in principle, for any other idea, the main thing is that users like it. Of course, there are charity projects there.

"With the world on a thread" - another great Russian crowdfunding service. The main activities are culture and social projects.

Another interesting platform is Boomstarter, in principle it is the Russian equivalent of "Kickstarter", but the service enjoys a good reputation and trust.

As in other countries, we have many other similar resources, but it makes no sense to list them all.

Advantages of such a model

The idea itself is really brilliant. One person can help another, regardless of geographical location, social status and other factors. And most importantly, they will both be interested in this.

Crowdfunding is an opportunity for those startups that have been bypassed by investors. It does not matter for what reason: whether the idea was doubtful or the project seemed unprofitable, however, thanks to such services, such products were implemented and delight their consumers.

A large number of people could self-realize through crowdfunding. For example, write and publish a book, record a music album, make a small movie that will please not only the author himself, but also those who have invested in this project.

The first thing that comes to mind of any person is the fact that the creator of the project can easily deceive those people who give him money. And this is true, fraud cases were mainly in the West.

However, such projects have learned to stop, as a rule, they can be seen immediately by poor description, lack of a concept or postponements and excuses.

There is also a reverse situation, when a really good and interesting project for any reason does not collect the necessary amount on time, the money is eventually returned to investors, and the idea is simply rejected for a while. Of course, such situations are rare, but they still occur.

So, we answered the question of what is crowdfunding. In general, the idea itself is really brilliant, but it requires many improvements, for example, there are a lot of legislative gaps in this area.

For some reason, a lot of really good ideas are being delayed, while rather trivial projects collect huge sums in a matter of hours.

Nevertheless, the sphere is developing and there are a lot of interesting directions, one of them is real estate crowdfunding. There are similar sites where many people unite their efforts to acquire various objects.

As a rule, the purpose of such operations is to make a profit in the future. In essence, this is a share, just shareholders are sought on specialized resources, and many aspects can be protected with the help of the law. An example of such crowdfunding is when several people decide to buy an apartment somewhere in another country, to protect their funds from inflation or, on the contrary, to extract profits in the future.

Such real estate transactions, in fact, are long-thought-out mechanisms called new names and using modern technologies to search for business partners.

If you go back to the classic crowdfunding, then maybe someday he will be able to compete with professional investors and entrepreneurs. After all, a person who contributes to such projects does not need a profit, he is interested in the product or the result.

Crowdfunding. How does this happen. Short.

You have decided to implement some interesting project, but you do not have enough money. You present your idea on a special crowdfunding platform or in the social network and ask for financial support. Users who are interested in the project, transfer you money. You, having collected the necessary amount, realize your dream.

What does crowdfunding guarantee?

  • Independence - Your age, appearance, place of residence, connection do not matter.
  • Reducing the role of intermediaries - You do not need to take a loan at a bank at high interest rates. The investor will not dictate terms to you. Business Angels and venture funds are also canceled. Funding comes from person to person directly.
  • Equal to all rules of the game: we like - we pay. Users voluntarily invest in a project that, in their opinion, serves the common good.
  • Openness fees - The initiators of collecting money at the beginning of the project create the amount that they need to collect during a specific period of time. The site must be open for each visitor of the crowdfunding platform. Information about costs and rewards, if they are intended, should also be transparent to all users.
  • Accountability - Each project should regularly report to donors on the essence and success of the events.

Risk of crowdfunding:

  • Donors who participate in public funding should understand that in most cases, their money cannot be returned.
  • Carefully choose the crowdfunding platform, no one has canceled the scam.

Classification of crowdfunding projects

  • charitable help,
  • volunteer activities
  • support of politicians, athletes and musicians,
  • startup startups
  • publishing books, recording music albums, making movies,
  • information Technology,
  • games and gadgets
  • political companies
  • community projects.

Methods of financing crowdfunding projects

  • "All or nothing". If, for a strictly fixed period, the required amount is not collected - the money is returned back to the sponsors, and the initiator of the project does not receive anything.
  • "Leave everything". Absolutely all collected funds are transferred to the project. Even if it is only 10% of the stated amount at the beginning.
  • "Eternal financing." The collection of money is unlimited, until the required amount is collected.
  • "Crucial moment". The money is transferred to the author of the project after reaching the “control point” (for example, after collecting half of the required amount).
  • "Donation". The person transfers money proceeding from disinterested desire to help in start of the project. According to this scheme, almost all charity projects work.
  • "Non-financial bonus". The donor receives some material reward, but not money. For example, by donating a certain amount to publish a book, you can get free access to a book on the site in return.
  • "Financial Benefit". By donating money to a project, a person wants to receive a cash reward. The share of the income of the implemented business project, the return of the deposit with interest, or the share of the shares of the future enterprise.

How is fundraising and investing?

Different crowdfunding platforms have their own requirements for the project, the author and the sponsor. But in general, they are all similar.

The rules of the platforms require that all participants be adults, offer only their own project, which is not contrary to the laws of the state, and also need to use the money raised only for its intended purpose.

The recipient describes the idea of his project, its features and benefits to society, if it is a social startup. The main thing is to clearly state the purpose for which the funds are being raised. This may be the production of goods or services, as well as a huge number of other purposes. The author also indicates what amount he needs to collect to achieve the goal.

Every donor who donates funds receives a reward. Most often this is some kind of souvenir product or product that the company is going to produce. The author of the project itself establishes the minimum amount for which they offer certain rewards.

Crowdfunding example: The recipient presents a project for organizing a charity event. The amount you need to collect - 200 thousand hryvnia. The minimum donation amount is UAH 500, for which the donor receives a personal certificate with gratitude from the organization. Those who poison 1000 UAH are offered tickets to visit this event. Donors who donate more than this amount, the author can offer a place in the hall or at the table, the opportunity to talk with invited guests.

An important advantage of crowdfunding is that each investor donates his money only to those projects that interest him. Accordingly, the more people give money to a certain company, the more likely it is that in the future more customers will be interested in the company or product.

“The difficulty of crowdfunding is that everything is based on charity on the part of ordinary people. And given the financial situation in Ukraine, as well as the general attitude to patronage, the idea of crowdfunding will not soon be in demand. ”- Ukrainian financial experts say.

How it works

The scheme of work is quite simple: some people put forward various ideas and ways to implement them, while others make a feasible financial contribution to these initiatives. Investors usually receive various bonuses, for example, a percentage of future profits as a result of the project.

Watch the video about the nuances of crowdfunding and the general scheme of work:

How much is

Thus it is possible to collect quite impressive amounts.

For example, with the help of crowdfunding sites in the world collected:

  • in the field of entrepreneurship - $ 6.7 billion,
  • in the social sphere - $ 3.6 billion,
  • for cinema and theater needs - $ 1.97 billion,
  • in real estate - $ 1.01 billion,
  • in the field of recording - $ 0.74 billion
  • According to Wikipedia, the first case of crowdfunding was recorded in 1997, when fans of the British group Marillion raised about $ 60,000 to finance a tour of the group in the United States.

    Types of crowdfunding

There are 3 main types of crowdfunding:

    1. Reward crowdfunding: the most popular type in which investors receive bonuses and rewards in exchange for their financial investments.

    2. Debt crowdfunding: investors are promised a share in a future project or a return on investment with future profits.

    3. Equity crowdfunding: the author of the initiative sells part of his business to an investor or offers a share on terms.

    Most popular destinations

Crowdfunding in Russia is represented by such popular destinations:

  • "All or nothing": if the financial goal is achieved, the author of the project receives the money. If the goal is not achieved, all funds are returned to investors.
  • "Leave everything collected": regardless of whether the goal is achieved, the author of the startup receives all funds raised, with the exception of the commission.
  • "Reward": The collected amount is received by the team, which is ready to take on the project.
  • "Free Price Deal": a product of creative activity is usually displayed, and investors independently set a price.
  • Charity.
  • Before proceeding to the review of the best crowdfunding sites in Russia, consider its basic rules and patterns.

    Fundamental rules

In order to attract potential investors, you need to adhere to certain rules, developed empirically:

  • Make a plan. It should be clearly marked ways of project implementation.
  • Be convincing, because you are asking for help from complete strangers.
  • Choose the platform that best meets your goals.
  • Offer thanks for the help. This could be the provision of a campaign end product or some souvenir to investors.
  • Attract promoters. The most difficult task is to tell as many people as possible about your campaign. This is where the help of relatives, friends, and people who have invested in this startup is useful.
  • Learn from successful startups.
  • Look professional.
  • Boomstarter.ru

Platform Boomstarter began its work on August 21, 20012. Its founders are Yevgeny Gavrilin and Ruslan Tugushev. This site does not provide dividends to investors in the form of finance or a share in a business.

In order to place your project on this platform, you must:

  • register on the website boomstarter.ru,
  • to issue a project through an online designer,
  • specify the type of remuneration for sponsorship,
  • send the project for moderation,
  • after successful moderation, run the project.
  • Boomstarter is considered the Russian equivalent of Kickstarter. The second activity of this platform is crowdfigting: on the site, you can choose a gift for yourself or loved ones, and sponsors can make money to buy this gift.

The platform Boomstarter takes a reward in the form of interest in the case of a successful fundraising for a particular startup.

The next platform for crowdfunding in RuNet is Planet Roux. Secondary services of this site are live broadcasts of concerts, shopping, and various news. A project on this site can be launched by a citizen of any country who has reached the age of majority. The Planet service does not finance commercial programs and political activities.

On the features of creating a project using the Planet Ru site, see the video:

The commission of the resource is 5% of the collected amount, if the project has attracted 50–99% of the required investment, then a fee of 10% is charged. Also 5% is transferred in favor of payment systems. Charity initiatives are not charged.

One of the advantages of the Planet site is the possibility of extending the time period for raising funds for a project, which is provided one-time.

The Kroogi project was founded by Miroslav Sarbaev in 2007. This is the oldest of the largest Russian crowdfunding sites. The peculiarity of this platform is crowdfunding in the creative field. Here are placed musical compositions, videos, books and distributed on the principle of "Pay as much as you can." There is also a section directly related to crowdfunding - they raise funds for the implementation of creative ideas and projects.

ThankYou is a platform similar to the Kroogi service that hosts music and literary works. Opened in 2010.

The site can be used for crowdfunding for personal needs, that is, with the help of people to find, for example, any thing.

The mechanism of operation is as follows: first, information is collected on social networks about who needs what help. Then the message about the action is posted on the website "Tugazy". It is necessary to indicate in what time it is necessary to raise funds, what kind of people and what they will go for.

The platform "Naparapet" was created for the implementation of art projects in 2011. But at the moment it does not develop as a crowdfunding project.

The StartTrack platform was created with the support of the Internet Initiatives Development Fund in 2013. Here are placed projects of medium and small businesses. StartTrack became the first crowdfunding platform, which received more than 90 million rubles as an investment during the creation.

The scheme of work is as follows:

  • The platform hosts the project of a working business.
  • Information should be updated every 2 weeks (you need to specify important business indicators, income).
  • The basic principle of work: the main investor attracts co-investors and together they form an investment syndicate.
  • Investor participants are offered a share in the implemented projects.
  • Investors must be accredited.
  • Investors can make proposals for adjusting the project in the direction of increasing investment expectations.

    Crowdfunding Features

We found out what crowdfunding is, now let's consider the main features of the scheme:

    1. Having a clear idea - money is not collected for volatile “goals”. The idea should be clear, clear and, of course, attractive to the donor. The more detailed the recipient writes out his project, the higher the chances of getting the required amount.
    2. Time constraints - the fundraising period is not infinite.
    3. Venture - the donor should receive a 100% return on investment. With social investment return is not expected.
    4. Orientation - commercial or non-commercial, both are popular.
    5. Focus on results - reporting on funds received, methods of their use is mandatory.

    Crowdfunding investment

Let's see how to do crowdfunding. First, understand that no one is obliged to give and will not give you anything for free. A commercial project in the future should be profitable, otherwise it makes no sense. Offer investors favorable terms and promise to provide something in return.

Secondly, think up such an idea that will be really interesting, will set you apart from the competition. Thirdly, be ready to work - a lot, seriously, constantly. Without labor, it is impossible to raise money on a crowdfunding platform. It is desirable that donors see an honest, open-minded person who is capable of much in order to achieve a cherished dream.

Consider that crowdfunding as a scheme is not for everyone. If you understand that you can not, the business does not go, look for another model. Ready for difficulties? Create a project and choose a platform. Required:

    1. Make your business plan clear, open.
    2. Do not lie.
    3. Set clear deadlines.
    4. Do not ask too much money at once.
    5. Thank for the help.
    6. Make investments objectively accessible to most.
    7. Tell about yourself to donors, other participants of the site, do not forget about high-quality advertising.

Be open, tell potential donors about yourself, goals, achievements. Do newsletters, attract friends, acquaintances, relatives (viral marketing, reposts give excellent results), post videos on YouTube, create your own subject blogs. The prospects for crowdfunding in Russia are very good, but not everyone knows about it. Ways to promote use any, as long as the project was alive and bright.

    Advantages and disadvantages of crowdfunding

The main advantage of crowdfunding is to provide everyone (with due diligence) with opportunities to implement creative interesting projects. There are different platforms, so donors and recipients will be able to choose the most favorable conditions for themselves.

    1. High investment risks for donors.
    2. No guarantee that the recipient is not a fraud.
    3. The need to create a website, the complexity of payments - for the party that attracts investment.

Also, recipients will have to work - a lot, for a long time and not always effectively. But objectively, the model is interesting, promising and provides great opportunities for the parties.

How to make money on crowdfunding

Crowdfunding platforms earn commissions from projects - somewhere interest is 10-15 of the transaction amount, and somewhere only 2-5. Some sites use alternative income channels - for example, they sell books, albums, courses. Commissions are rarely collected from social, charitable projects.

The recipient needs to choose a platform and create a project. Step by step the scheme looks like this:

    1. Registration account.
    2. Placement of the project.
    3. Specify the amount of money, the timing for collection.
    4. Calculation of expenses for presents to investors.
    5. Project creation - domain, logo, social network buttons, presentation, etc.

The recipient must remember that investment is not a charity, but a business contract, the conditions of which must be strictly followed. The exception is social programs. Donors choose projects that are promising from their point of view, agree on details of remuneration. Crowdfunding in Russia is still developing, but a great future is predicted for it.
