Anne Hathaway Filmography

Anne Hathaway is a popular and talented American movie actress, the daughter of an actress and a lawyer. By the way, it was thanks to her mother's profession that a girl at an early age firmly decided to become a man of art, which, in principle, she succeeded by 100%.

Already in childhood and adolescence, Annie successfully mastered performances in school performances, studied singing a lot and even performed as part of Carnegie Hall with the children's choir, soon after which she received her first role in the series “Be Yourself”.

Ann didn’t make her way to fame for long: literally right after the shooting was completed, she made her debut on the big screens in the film How to Become a Princess. The main role and immediately success, which in fact did not leave the young actress.

Today we will talk and remember the top 10 of the brightest and best films with the participation of Anne Hathaway, in which all its advantages and professional talents are clearly revealed. Want to spend the evening nice - be sure to look at something from this list!

  1. “How to become a princess”, 2001. The debut film of the actress, who instantly brought, even then, very young Annie, success and popularity, which greatly influenced her further progress along the career ladder. It must be said that the director of the film was Garry Marshall, who once revealed the talent of young Julia Roberts in the famous film “Pretty Woman”. Easy and good movie, which is suitable for viewing the whole family. At the core is the story of an ordinary schoolgirl, who at one point finds out that she is the only heir to the throne of a single European country. She faces a choice - to stay with her mother and continue the life of an ordinary American teenager or to go to manage the whole country.
  2. “Enchanted Ella”, 2004. Another excellent film from the list “for the whole family”. Ella (Anne Hathaway) in deep childhood received an unusual gift - obedience. Like. Would that be bad here? But it turns out that not everything is so simple: the stepmother and the treacherous half-sisters unceremoniously use her “peculiarity”, which, as a result, bothers kind Ella. As a result, she embarks on an exciting and adventurous journey to get rid of her gift and see life from the other side.
  3. Princess Diaries 2, 2004. Continuation of the successful first part, in which the main character is already turning into a real queen of a small but proud European country. But it is wise to rule the whole state - not such an easy task, especially when the thoughts of a young and naive girl are in the head of the queen.
  4. Crazy, 2005. The first film of the actress, where she managed to escape from the image of the “princesses” and play an extremely unusual role for herself, which, it must be said, coped perfectly well. In the center of the plot - two girlfriends from a decent suburb who are bored with their quiet life and they go in search of adventure in the company of cool local gangsters. At first, it all seems funny, only with time the girls are fully aware of how dangerous it is to be friends with the bad guys.
  5. “Brokeback Mountain”, 2005. The film, based on the story of the same name by Annie Prout, once managed to make a lot of noise in the public and gain very high ratings among film critics and the viewer. The story of the difficult relationship between two young men, cowboys, who suddenly discover in themselves feelings for each other, who were previously considered unacceptable. A novel that broke out at one moment ends quickly, young people continue their normal lives, get married, have children, although even for some reason all this does not give them any special happiness ...
  6. “The Devil Wears Prada”, 2006. With the release of this film, the actress became even more popular and successful. The main partner on the set is the idol of her childhood - Meryl Streep, who played the role of the legendary business woman and editor-in-chief of the popular Podium, which, by the way, was the young and ambitious heroine Anne.
  7. "Jane Austen", 2006 Biographical film, where the actress played the role of a young British writer Jane Austen. By the way, for the credibility of the plot and to get a better role, Anne mastered the piano playing especially for this film. An interesting, deep and penetrating film with a quality cast and great English flavor of the time.
  8. “War of Brides”, 2009. Light comedy, in which the intense rivalry between two friends vividly reveals the idea of how close people can become real enemies. And why? Because the weddings of two beautiful bridesmaids are scheduled for the same day!
  9. One Day, 2011. Another interesting role is Ann, in which she plays the role of Emma - a charismatic, romantic and intelligent girl who would like to change the world for the better. At a student party, she meets Dexter - windy, selfish, incredibly beautiful and attractive. There is sympathy between young people, but they decide to remain friends and only one day in a year completely devote themselves to each other, and so for 20 years ...
  10. "Les Miserables", 2012. The film, based on the novel by V. Hugo, became a real event for Anne Hathaway, because for her role in it she received the Oscar statute, cherished for each actor. At the audition, the actress played so impressively that she was able to move the audience to tears!

Best Anne Hathaway Movies

At the audition for the Christopher Nolan fighter, Anne Hathaway decided that she was being cast for the role of Harley Quinn - the crazy Joker minion, who was the main antagonist of the film The Dark Knight. However, after talking with Nolan, Ann realized that she was claiming a different image - Catwoman.

Anne Hathaway created the image of Selina Kyle, inspired by the famous Hollywood actress Hedy Lamarr in the 40s - this movie star served as the prototype for Catwoman from the comics.

Selina - plastic and agile fighter. To learn her tricks, Anne Hathaway spent five days a week in physical training: gym, dance and acrobatics.

During the filming of the fight, the actress tried so hard that she accidentally knocked down a stuntman, hitting his eye in the eye.

In preparation for the role of an assistant working in a large publishing house, Anne Hathaway worked in the sales house for a week as an assistant.

I became friends with Emily Blunt on-screen partner.

When the actress collected material for the role, she trained for two weeks at the auction house.

To prepare for the role of the actress conducted her own research. Ann consulted with drug addicts, talked with their families, read books, looked through doc films.

During filming in frosty Iceland, Anne Hathaway faced a difficult task: to enter the cold water. The scene was filmed for several hours, and the spacesuit, which was on the heroine of Hathaway, began to leak. The actress is so frozen that after the final double did not feel the toes.

The actress worked through her character for many weeks. Ann obviously made her heroine repulsive and arrogant, so that over time, you could fully reveal her character.

Due to the constant presence in the icy water, the actress began to develop hypothermia. Shooting for some time was suspended.

The actress had to wear a spacesuit almost every day, which weighed more than 30 kg.

All movies and roles

Many of the friends of the actress - people in old age, it helped Ann to get into the role and understand the problem of generations.

The actress herself admitted that she took some of the habits for her role from Miranda Priestley’s character, which Meryl Streep played in the movie The Devil Wears Prada.

Performing the role of the unfortunate Fantines, Anne Hathaway took over the baton from her mother Kate McCauley Hathaway, who played this heroine in the American theatrical production in 1987.

For the role in "The Miserable" Hathaway had to make big sacrifices: the actress lost 11 kg to look like a woman exhausted by life. Anne also decided to part with long hair, as required by the script from her Fantine.

The scene in which Anne Hathaway performs the song-revelation of Fantine "I Dreamed a Dream", filmed a good 8 hours, spending 4 doubles. Not least, this was an initiative of the actress herself, who wanted to feel the story of her heroine and bring her feelings to the audience.

The actress got so much into the role and identified herself with the victim that for many months after the shooting she was depressed and continued to experience the emotions of her character.

The trick, where the corpses of Fantines are thrown out of the window into the wagon, the actress performed herself.

In order to better understand her character, Ann studied a lot of materials about the life of sex slaves, read many articles and studies.

"Brokeback Mountain"

(Brokeback Mountain), 2005

In fact, the first “adult” role of Hathaway (famous for the Disney hit “How to become a princess”) could hardly produce more resonance. Succeeding in the box office and winning all the prizes in the world (except for the main Oscar - which the Academy did not forgive many to this day), the drama Ang Lee made Oscar nominees for three of the actors who starred in it, and although Ann was the fourth most dramatic talent it was first noticed because of “Brokeback Mountain”. By the way, to get the role of the rodeo queen, Hathaway had to deceive the director, who believed that Anne knew how to ride a horse.

"The Devil Wears Prada"

(The Devil Wears Prada), 2006

Just six months later, Hathaway's resume was replenished with an even louder hit - a romantic comedy about a young journalist who moved to New York and settled into a fashion magazine - a personal assistant to the editor-in-chief (Meryl Streep) with a reputation for a despot. “The devil wears Prada - another personal triumph for the Strip (who managed to play for the Oscar nomination on duty even in a rather mediocre romcom), but he remembered stories as ungrateful roles of yesterday's debutantes, Hathaway and Emily Blunt.

"Rachel is getting married"

(Rachel Getting Married), 2008

Undoubtedly, Ann’s best role remains her heartbreaking entry in Jonathan Demme’s family drama. Playing a walking catastrophe, in one form of which those around noticeably tense up, Hathaway does not smooth out sharp corners, appearing to be tedious and challengingly unpleasant, sometimes vulnerable and unobtrusively attractive, but always interesting heroine. Anne was nominated for an Oscar for her work in the brilliant acting ensemble “Rachel Is Getting Married”, and the film was largely due to the results of the year for most authoritative Top-10.

"Love and other medicines"

(Love & Other Drugs), 2010

With Jake Gyllenhaal, her screen mate from Brokeback Mountain, Hathaway reunited in this charming romantic tragicomedy about a drug dealer (ranging from antidepressants to Viagra) and a girl with Parkinson's. Having spent a significant part of her role at least topless, the actress was rewarded for her courage by nominating for Golden Globe, and although the social commentary conceived by director Edward Zwick didn’t work out for him, the chemistry of Hathaway and Jillenhall is obvious - and the film generally saves.

"The Dark Knight: Revival of the Legend"

(The Dark Knight Rises), 2012

At about the same time, six years ago, Ann began to master large-caliber audiences: first as the good queen in Tim Burton’s billion-dollar Alice in Wonderland, then as part of the tragicomic tandem of the Oscar ceremony (for a couple with James Franco) and finally , filming at the most successful of modern Hollywood visionaries. Her Selina Kyle embellished the final part of the Dark Knight's trilogy (which bypassed Alice in the ranking of the highest-grossing films with Anne) and persuaded Christopher Nolan to remove Hathaway also in Interstellar.

(Les Misérables), 2012

Fifty nominations and over thirty prizes (including the coveted “Oscar”) brought Hathaway a second-rate role for the suffering of Fantine in a very long and sober - but again very successful - musical by Tom Hooper. At the same time, almost all of this role fit into a single musical number - the five-minute song “I Dreamed a Dream”, which proved that the years of vocal training (in “Enchanted Ella”, “Rio” and somewhere else) were not in vain. Like childhood memories - when Ann was six, she watched with wide eyes as the role of Fantine was played in the theater by her mother.
