Alcoholic drinks - an integral part of human life (at least on holidays). And I would like to drink high-quality products, and not to throw out considerable means, so that I can suffer with the stomach. Therefore, lovers of hard liquor are increasingly thinking about making good brandy at home with vodka, instead of spending money on the dubious “cocktails” produced under this name.

Skeptics of such aspirations can be understood. Even industrial drinks to call cognacs, in principle, is wrong: the name has the right to wear only brandy produced in the eponymous French province. However, our people already have a tradition to call so any strong aromatic drink of brown color. By the way, many have already insisted brandy at home from vodka. Feedback from experimenters is very positive. People approve homemade drinks much more often than purchased ones.

Ideally, experienced craftsmen recommend the use of medical alcohol: it is characterized by high purity. On the other hand, it needs to be diluted according to all the rules, which can create certain difficulties. So, we will prepare cognac at home from vodka, which requires adherence to very simple rules.

The bottle is tightly capped and hides somewhere in a relatively cool and lightless place. Vodka Brandy

Only French can cook true cognac. But even its counterpart - brandy - everywhere they call it brandy. Both that and other alcohol, it is necessary to notice, not bad on taste. He is loved not only by men. But sometimes you can hear that the cognac purchased in the store (not French) not only did not please with the fragrant bouquet and taste, but rather disappointed. Of course, a real French drink costs a lot, but in fairness, let's say that its “colleague” of production in other countries is not cheap. An order of magnitude more expensive than vodka. But drinking vodka is, as it were, not so prestigious.

What to do? It turns out that there is a way out - you just need to make cognac yourself at home. His imitation, of course, will be simpler than that made in France, but much better than store brandy come from countries where sometimes grapes do not grow.

By simple manipulations, you can get a "cognac", which will convey not only the color and aroma, but also the flavor range of the present. In this case, it will include only well-known and very useful components: spices, herbs, etc.

As a basis for an elite drink, you can use it as vodka, home brew (the natural product if it is of good quality), diluted alcohol. The best option would of course be grape distillate (that is, in fact, moonshine, only made from homemade (natural) grape wine). We will try to cook it using vodka. But if you wish, do not hesitate to replace it with any of the foundations proposed above.

In general, an imitation of brandy with all its variety of recipes can be two options. The first one is based on the fact that the drink should be kept and insisted for some time, the second one - that the imitation is prepared fairly quickly: one day - two - and everything is ready. However, this does not mean that one of them is worse, the other is better. Both of them are prepared using natural supplements, so in the standard dose for cognac (30-50 ml / day) you will only benefit your body.

The color and taste of the drink, and accordingly its flavor, will vary depending on what we add to our base. We will give for you some of the recipes that have already proven themselves well.

Make a reservation immediately that the number of components in all recipes, you can increase and decrease in proportion to the composition of the recipe. However, consider at the same time your taste preferences, if it seems to you that it is proposed to take too much or too little of an ingredient (in your opinion), then slightly increase or decrease its dosage. But without fanaticism, otherwise you can spoil the main gamut and the "brandy" will turn out unsuitable for drinking in pleasure.

The second point is that your components, including the base, must be of high quality, not damaged or artisanal.

Homemade cognac with prunes

  • vodka - 1 liter
  • prunes (dried without stones) - 2 pieces
  • sugar - 2 teaspoons
  • allspice (peas) - 2 pieces
  • black leaf tea - 0.5 tsp
  • Cinnamon - 1-2 pinches

You need to cook like this:

  1. Pour the alcohol into a glass container and pour all the ingredients into it.
  2. Stir and place in a cool dark place. During the first three days the container with the mixture should be shaken. Then you can "forget" about the drink for 2-4 weeks.
  3. When the mixture is infused, strain it and fill the bottle with alcohol.

From vodka with almonds

  • vodka (but better grape brew 45-50%) - 1 liter
  • Almond - 10 grams
  • raisins - 10 grams
  • oak chips - 5 grams

You need to cook like this:

  1. Scrap oak to scald and soak for a day in boiling water (in very small quantities).
  2. Drain oak infusion and mix it with vodka (for this reason, boiling water should not be much) in a glass container.
  3. Pour almond seed and raisins into the mixture. If you wish, you can throw a couple of almond shells. Close the mixture and insist the month.
  4. After 30-40 days, filter the contents of the jar, and pour into bottles.

I would like to say that when using vodka as the basis, the strength of the resulting drink will be approximately 35-38 degrees. Therefore, in order to avoid disappointment, we recommend to take as a basis in this recipe, all the same, not vodka, but alcohol with a strength of 45-50%, i.e. moonshine or diluted alcohol.

When using vodka as a basis, you can do a little differently: after insisting the oak chips, drain the water and pour the liter of vodka specified in the recipe, add almonds, its shell (if desired) and raisins to the mixture. Insist month, strain and taste. You will be surprised by the softness and taste of the resulting alcohol.

  • Carnation (3-4 things).
  • Citric acid and vanilla (at the tip of the knife).
  • Cumin (optional and to taste).
  • Sugar (a couple of tablespoons).

Peel the walnuts, combine them with other ingredients and add to the vodka. Insist about two weeks, then filter and pour into bottles.

Coffee and Spice Cognac

To make such an interesting drink, you will need:

  • 3 liters of vodka.
  • 3 spoons of sugar.
  • 3 tablespoons of good instant coffee.
  • Teaspoon of cinnamon.
  • Vanilla sugar (to taste).
  • Carnation (10-15 stuff).

Take a large container, place all bulk components in it, fill it with a small amount of vodka, shake it so that they can dissolve. Then add the rest and put it in a dark place for 14 days. After this period, filter through gauze and cotton and pour into bottles.

Home-made cognac is not a myth, but a reality. There are various methods, among which you can certainly find a recipe of your own liking. Do not be afraid to experiment and amaze your friends and family with original flavor combinations.

We crush pepper peas a couple of times with something heavy to flatten them, thereby revealing their aroma from the inside and also send everything into a common container. At the end, we introduce cinnamon sticks, powdered sugar, broken into two in our future cognac, and using a large long spoon, stir it all for 2-3 minutes. This strong drink was very popular in the 70s and 80s of the last century. I have a detailed recipe in my old notebooks, which has little resemblance to recipes from the Internet. It then consisted of "scarce products" - a term that has lost its original meaning in our time.

  • 1200 ml of water
  • 300 g lollipops "Barberry"
  • vanillin, citric acid
  • 4 to 5 teaspoons of instant coffee
  • 500 ml of alcohol 90 - 95%

PREPARATION: in the water when heated, dissolve the candy, add a little vanillin (but not vanilla sugar) and citric acid, bring to a boil. After boiling off and pour coffee. Cool it down.

Add alcohol and let stand for at least 12 hours, filter. It turns out a rich dark drink with a caramel flavor, reminiscent of cognac for many years of aging. Drink carefully.

You can add half a cup of sugar, but it will be very sweet. This option is not for everybody.

The variety of recipes for homemade alcoholic beverages allows you to experiment with various combinations, using not only ordinary products, but also ready-made spirit tinctures (for example, hawthorn), essential oils, and ready-made food concentrates. By necessity or by request, studying the question of how to make brandy from vodka, you can add additional accents to the bouquet and the aroma of this drink.

So, in conclusion, I want to say: knowing how to make cognac from vodka, making your additions to the recipes, choose the most successful option. Do not let the children, pregnant women and people with poor health try the result of their culinary creativity. We wish all the rest further creative success! For this and drink, savoring and enjoying!

Main ingredients

The first and most important ingredient on which the characteristics of homemade brandy depend is the alcohol base. Be sure to use the highest quality alcohol, otherwise you will not get the pleasure of aroma and taste, and poisoning. The basis can take alcohol, vodka or moonshine. Fortress may vary, but the optimal values - 40-50 degrees. Stronger cognac will turn out to be overly saturated and lose subtle taste notes, while a weak one cannot be called a full-fledged drink of the gods.

The second important ingredient is oak. Traditionally, the drink is aged in oak barrels, and this stage directly affects the quality of cognac. Its replacement will be the addition of the oak component.

  • First, such a tree saturates the drink with tannins, which impart tartness (when aged, it softens somewhat and becomes pleasant).
  • Secondly, the oak contains a lot of organic acids and essential oils that provide a unique aroma - a stunning bouquet of caramel, vanilla and flowers.
  • Thirdly, a properly harvested oak tree will give that same noble color of dark amber to cognac, which is very much appreciated and distinguishes the drink from many others.

Also, the composition may include other additives that give homemade brandy a more intense and vivid flavor, savory flavor and beautiful shades. It can be sugar, various spices, coffee, dried fruits and so on.

  4. After insisting cognac should be drained, poured into small bottles and preferably held for a month or two, so that it acquires an even richer taste.

Some useful recommendations to those who decided to make homemade brandy on their own:

  • Oak bark can be pretreated. If you want the brandy to be softer, then pour it with boiling water and leave for ten minutes to remove some tannins that give strength. And if, on the contrary, you want to get a rich and brutal drink, then the raw materials can be burned in a frying pan.
  • The longer the cognac is aged, the more noble it becomes, so you should be patient.
  • It is possible to accelerate the process of primary infusion with the help of thermal effects: if the container is placed in a warm place, the drink will be ready much faster. But remember that this method may somewhat degrade the quality of brandy.
  • Try experimenting with the ingredients of the drink. For flavor, beautiful hue and taste, you can add rosehip, cardamom, prunes, dried apricots, dried apples and other dried fruits, thyme, cumin, oregano and other spices. But do not overdo it and do not mix too many components.

Now you can cook noble cognac at home and surprise your family and guests for a holiday.
